This BLS for Healthcare Provider classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Audience: Healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course.

AHA E-Exam Option:  You will be sent a link to the BLS online exams.  We encourage you to do the exam in advance of the course and use your AHA BLS Provider Manual or other resources as a reference for the questions you don't know.  Once you complete all 25 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  If you don't pass or can't complete the exam prior to your course, you will have an opportunity to complete it the last 30 minutes of the course.     

Course length: Approximately 3 hours

Upon successful completion of written test and skills demonstration, students receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years.

Student materials required: AHA Basic Life Support Provider Manual.  American Heart Association mandates that each student have access to the most current provider manual before, durring and after the course.  Please note: the exam at the completion of the course is open book.  If you do not have one already, you can order the student manual with the class.  Book price includes tax.

ACLS Initial Provider (2 day) w/BLS Course will include two separate certifications, AHA ACLS Provider and AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider.

In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

ACLS Initial Provider (2 day) with BLS Online Course with In Person Skills

BLS for Providers (AHA HeartCode BLS Online Learning Course) - This course consist of 2 sections, 1) online learning, to be completed first. Average completion time for the HeartCode BLS online content is 90 minutes. The second section of the course, skills evaluation will occur during the class.  This BLS for Healthcare Provider classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

  • ACLS ONLINE EXAM:  You will be sent a link to the AHA ACLS online exam with your registration confirmation e-mail.  Please complete the exam in advance of the course and use your AHA ACLS Provider Manual as a reference for the questions you don't know. You can take as much time as you need to complete this 50 question exam. However, if you log out during the exam, you will have to start it again when you log back in.  You can stop and start this as many times as you wish, but once you complete all 50 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  If you don't pass the exam prior to your course, please bring us a screen shot of your score(s) to confrim you attempted to do it.  If you failed the e-exam, you will have 30 minutes at the end of the ACLS course to complete a paper version of the exam.

The course includes an online component that will guide the student through all the key information to successfully complete the online assessment. This should be completed prior to class where the physical demonstration of skills will be completed.

BLS Heartcode Online Key and Skills Features:

This course may be used for initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion.

  • 1-2 hour - Part 1 online course - the key code for the online course and instructions for access is delivered in the confirmation email when students register.
  • 1 hour - Parts 2 and 3 (hands on skills practice and testing) to occur during the ACLS course.

Part 1 must be paired with a hands-on skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) with an AHA BLS Instructor. Students who successfully complete Part 1 receive a certificate that allows them entrance to a skills practice and testing session. An AHA BLS course completion card will be issued upon successful completion of all three parts.

This American Heart Association’s PALS Course is an Instructor-led, classroom-based course that enhances healthcare providers’ skills in the treatment of pediatric arrest and periarrest patients. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to teach and reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.

Audience: The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Prerequisites: You are required to complete the online PALS Precourse & Self-Assessment prior to the instructor-led course.  The online course will take about 4-hours and is completed online.  Before taking PALS, students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills. They should also be able to recognize various heart rhythms, be familiar with different types of airway management tools and their use and have knowledge of the drugs commonly used to treat cardiovascular irregularities.

Students will learn single-rescuer and team basic life support for adults, children and infants through 5 interactive exercises, scenarios and a written test. Navigation controls allow students to move easily through content as they learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Course also teaches relief of choking.

The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support Online Part 1 Course, web-based and accessible 24 hours a day, provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support.

This course may be used for initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion.

Part 1, Online Course - You will be sent a link to access the American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers Online part 1 course. It will come directly from the AHA in a separate email and may take 1-2 business days. You may access the course as often as you would like for up to 24 months from the initial activation of your course. Please contact technical support at 1-888-242-8883 between the hours of 9-5 p.m. EST (GMT-5) M-F if you have any questions or technical difficulties.  Online Part 1 will take approximately 2 hours.

Parts 2 & 3, Skills Practice and Testing – You will attend the hands-on Parts 2 & 3 on the date and location selected above.  Make sure you bring your completion certificate with you to your skills session for proof of course completion.  You have 60 days from your completion date of the online course to successfully complete parts 2 and 3.  Skills Sessions will take approximately 1-2 hours.

All three parts must be completed in order to receive an AHA BLS Course Completion Card.  This is the same card you would receive if you took the Classroom version.  

Please note that the Online Courses are non-refundable. Once you schedule your skills session, your session fee is non-refundable/non-transferable in case of no-show or failed sessions.

The AHA BLS Online In-Person Skills Check is for those who have completed one of the following online courses:  AHA Heartcode Online Course OR the Healthcare Learning Alliance On Demand Virtual Course.  

 Once you completed the online course and the in-person skills you will receive the same card as if you took the full Classroom version.  

Please note that the Online Courses are non-refundable. Once you schedule your skills session, your session fee is non-refundable/non-transferable in case of no-show or failed sessions.

 

BLS Key Code is NON-REFUNDABLE - SKILLS (Parts 2 and 3) are NOT included.

This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.

After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. Where available, students may also complete the hands-on session with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM).

HeartCode BLS is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS Course.

Updated to reflect science in the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, HeartCode® PALS Part 1 is a web-based, self-directed program that teaches healthcare providers knowledge and skills needed to recognize and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. Using eSimulation technology, students assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings where they can apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning about pediatric advanced life support.

A BLS Skills Check (parts 2 and 3) is the follow-up process to completing the American Heart Association's online BLS Healthcare Provider Course.  

Part 1 must be paired with a hands-on skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) with an AHA BLS Instructor. Students who successfully complete Part 1 receive a certificate that allows them entrance to a skills practice and testing session. You have 60 days from your completion date of the online course to successfully complete parts 2 and 3. An AHA BLS course completion card will be issued upon successful completion of all three parts.

You can take as much time as you need to complete this 50 question exam. However, if you log out during the exam, you will have to start it again when you log back in.  You can stop and start this as many times as you wish, but once you complete all 50 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  If you don't pass the exam prior to your course, please bring us a screen shot of your score(s) to confrim you attempted to do it.  If you failed the e-exam, you will have 30 minutes at the end of the ACLS course to complete a paper version of the exam.

Course Overview

The AHA Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in the Heartsaver and/or Healthcare Provider resuscitation courses. The American Heart Association requires that Instructors be at least 18 years of age for the Heartsaver and BLS Instructor courses. A BLS Instructor will be qualified to teach the BLS for Healthcare Provider Course as well as the Heartsaver Course for the lay person. If you would ike to become a Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED Instructor ONLY, please contact the Training Center for further details prior to signing up.

 Mandatory Course Prerequisites

1.  Possess a current AHA BLS Provider card.

2.  Designate a Training Center by registering at ahainstructornetwork.org.

3.  Obtain a Letter of Recommendation from your Training Site. 

4.  Successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course (included in the cost of the course), and print the course completion certificate.

5.  Possess a current edition of the AHA Provider and Instructor Manual and DVD (digital eProducts okay), for the discipline desired to teach, (AHA Provider Manuals and DVDs ARE NOT included in the cost of the course. You may order the manual from LifeTek.)

6.  Please bring with you to the course the following items:

a)     Copy of your current Healthcare Provider card (front & back)

b)     BLS Instructor Essentials completion certificate

c)     Letter of recommendation from your training site

Monitoring and Mentoring:  Each instructor candidate is required to be monitored teaching a BLS class in full to complete the Instructor course requirements.  A LifeTek TCF will monitor the class.  It is the instructor candidate’s responsibility to coordinate their monitored class while attending the Initial Instructor Course.  LifeTek will not issue an Instructor card until a satisfactory monitoring has been done. 

Thank you for registering for the BLS Instructor Renewal & Monitoring Course. There are 2 components to this course: 

  • Didactic & BLS Skills--apx. 3.5 hours 
  • BLS Instructor Monitoring --apx. 4 hours

Please complete the BLS Provider e-exam, prior to this course and either print or email the completion certificate to Lifetek@lifetekinc.com or provide a print copy to the Trainin Center Faculty conducting your course. The Keycode for the exam, appears under "Keycode" on your registration sheet.

To renew, instructors need to complete the following as required by the AHA:

    • Conduct BLS and AED skills testing during a PALS, PEARS, or ACLS course. 1 credit per course.
      • *** Verification credits will need to be turned into the office prior to class. To do so please submit all past rosters through www.enrollware.com.
    • Attend updates as required within the previous 2 years. Updates may address new course content or methodology and review TC, regional, and national ECC information.
    • Be monitored while teaching before instructor status expiration. The first monitoring after the initial instructor course does not satisfy this requirement.  See the monitoring options below.
    • Maintain an Individual Instructor Quality Score by Discipline above the AHA benchmark of 85 for the span of the expiring card. Exceptions may be granted on a case by case bases with the recommendation of TCF and approval of the TCC.

If the course today does not include a monitoring component, please make sure to schedule a monitoring session with your Instructor or Training Faculty.  

This monitoring is required for existing AHA BLS instructors needing to renew their status for an additional two years. If we do not already have proof of your current BLS Instructor status, you will need to provide us with a copy of your card.

The ACLS Instructor Course is approximately 16 hours.  The course consists of 8 hours of individual on-line study and an additional 8 hours of classroom training and practice. The ACLS Essentials component must be completed and a Certificate of Successful Completion printed out before taking the classroom portion.

Heartsaver®  First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.  Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.  This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.

This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. This is NOT a Healthcare Provider Course and does not meet nursing school requirements.

This course will provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. American Safety & Health Institute's First Aid, CPR, AED & Bloodborne Pathoensprogram includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced for themselves and others. The program assists in satisfying the training requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard

Intended Audience:  Any individual or employee who has a reasonable anticipation of contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties.

ASHI-approved student materials:  Student handbook. Digital format will be provided as a download from the ASHI website. .  

Successful completion (certification):  Upon successful completion of all course requirements and performance evaluation, you will receive a Certificate of Completion which is valid for 12 months from class completion date.

The Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

This course is offered in a blended-learning format with a 4-hour ACLS Online Prep Course that is to be completed, before you attend the instructor-led portion of the course.  PleAse print the completion certificate and bring it with you to class.

Prerequisites and Preparation:  BEFORE THE COURSE, please review the information in your ACLS Provider Manual and successfully complete the ACLS Prep Course & Self-Assessment Online with a passing score of 70. This BLS for Healthcare Provider classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

AHA E-Exam Option:  You have been be sent a link to the AHA BLS online exam.  We encourage you to do the exam in advance of the course and use your AHA BLS Provider Manual or other resources as a reference for the questions you don't know.  Once you complete all 25 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  If you don't pass or can't complete the exam prior to your course, you will have an opportunity to complete it the last 30 minutes of the course. 

 

Audience: Healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course.

Course length: Approximately 3 hours

Upon successful completion of written test and skills demonstration, students receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years.

This American Heart Association’s PALS Course is an Instructor-led, classroom-based course that enhances healthcare providers’ skills in the treatment of pediatric arrest and periarrest patients. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to teach and reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.

Audience: The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Prerequisites: Before taking PALS, students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills. They should also be able to recognize various heart rhythms, be familiar with different types of airway management tools and their use and have knowledge of the drugs commonly used to treat cardiovascular irregularities.

Bloodborne Pathogens Training Online is an OSHA mandated training program for any person who may be reasonably anticipated to face contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials as the result of performing their job duties. This training is for individuals who must comply with OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.1030.  

The program will discuss modes of transmission, infection control procedures, clinical management, and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

Audience: The Everett Clinic employees required to maintain current certification in AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers. 

Course length: Approximately 2 hours with online tutorial and AHA BLS e-exam taken online. 

AHA E-Exam Required:   You will be sent a link to the BLS online exams.  We encourage you to do the exam in advance of the course and use your AHA BLS Provider Manual or other resources, such as the HCLA-BLS online tutorial,  as a reference for the questions you don't know.  Once you complete all 25 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  You will have 2 opportunities to complete the exam online.

AHA BLS E-card:  Upon successful completion of the AHA BLS e-exam, BLS skills practice and skills evaluation, students receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years.

Student materials required: AHA Basic Life Support Provider Manual.  American Heart Association mandates that each student have access to the most current provider manual before, durring and after the course.  Please pick-up a copy of the BLS Provider Manual from the TEC Education Department.
