Course Overview: The AHA ACLS Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in resuscitation courses.  Click here to view Instructor Timeline. It will explain the steps to becoming an AHA Instructor with LifeTek Carlson. 

The ACLS Instructor Course is approximately 16 hours.  The course consists of 8 hours of individual on-line study and an additional 8 hours of classroom training and practice. The ACLS Essentials component must be completed and a Certificate of Successful Completion printed out before taking the classroom portion.

Who Should Attend: The Ideal instructor candidate is motivated to teach, facilitate learning and ensure students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion. The ideal instructor candidate views student assessment as a way to improve individual knowledge and skills.

The ideal instructor can be identified as someone who has:

  • A strong desire to teach
  • Excellent BLS performance & problem-solving skills
  • The ability to follow direction & follow through with tasks
  • The ability to communicate effectively in front of a group.

Instructor Candidate Prerequisites: All participants in an instructor course must:

  1. Hold a current AHA ACLS Provider card
  2. Complete an Instructor Candidate Application
  3. Submit a Letter of Recommendation
  4. Align with an AHA Training Center by signing up on the AHA Instructor Network www.ahainstructornetwork.org 
  5. Successfully completed the AHA ACLS Essentials Online course (the online course is not lincluded in the initial price)

**We do not provide course manuals. You may order the manuals from LifeTek or from one of our 3 vendors indicated in your confirmation email.

 You are required to send a copy of your current ACLS Provider card (front & back), completed instructor candidate application, and letter of recommendation to our Training Center prior to attending the course.
