Class Enrollment

Empower others to save lives by becoming a skilled and confident BLS Instructor. This course is designed to prepare you to teach American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver® CPR courses to healthcare providers and laypersons alike.

As a certified AHA BLS/Hearsaver Instructor, you will play a vital role in training individuals and equipping them with lifesaving skills. This course will provide you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to teach effectively while ensuring your students succeed in mastering AHA guidelines and standards.

What to Expect

The BLS/Heartsaver Instructor Course combines online learning with hands-on training, ensuring a comprehensive and interactive experience.

• Total Duration: Approximately 9 hours
  • 3 hours: Online Pre-Course Work (BLS AND Heartsaver Instructor Essentials)
  • 6 hours: In-Person Classroom Training and Practice

We are looking for motivated individuals who:

• Have a passion for teaching and helping others succeed.
• Demonstrate excellent BLS and Heartsaver skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Are effective communicators and confident speaking to groups.
• Can facilitate learning while maintaining high AHA standards.

Mandatory Course Requirements

Before attending, candidates must:

1. Hold a current AHA BLS and/or Heartsaver Provider Card.
2. Register with a Training Center at Atlas.heart.org.
3. Submit a Letter of Recommendation from your Training Site.
4. Complete the BLS AND Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online Course (included in the fee) and print your certificate.
5. Own the current edition of the AHA Provider and Instructor Manual and DVD (or digital eProducts) for your desired teaching discipline (Instructor Material is NOT included) Purchase Instructor Material Here

Bring these items on the day of the course:

• Copy of your current BLS and/or Provider Card (front and back)
• BLS and/or Heartsaver Instructor Essentials completion certificate
• Letter of Recommendation from your Training Site

Monitoring and Mentoring

To complete the course, you must teach a full BLS class under the guidance of a LifeTek Training Center Faculty (TCF) member. This monitoring ensures you’re prepared to deliver high-quality instruction. Upon successful monitoring, you’ll receive your official AHA BLS and/or Instructor Card.
