Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course

The American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course is an instructor-led, classroom-based program designed to enhance healthcare providers' skills in treating pediatric patients who are experiencing arrest or near-arrest situations. The course aims to improve the quality of care for seriously ill or injured children, leading to better patient outcomes.


Important Requirement: Current, Non-Expired Card Needed to Attend Class

  • Current PALS Completion Card: Students must present a valid, non-expired PALS completion card to attend the class.

Course Overview:

Format:

  • Instructor-led, classroom-based training with simulated pediatric emergencies to provide real-life scenarios and practice.

Focus Areas:

  • Systematic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Basic life support (BLS) techniques
  • PALS treatment algorithms for various pediatric emergencies
  • Effective resuscitation methods for respiratory failure, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest
  • Team dynamics in emergency situations

Target Audience:

This course is intended for healthcare providers who respond to pediatric emergencies, including:

  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • Paramedics
  • Emergency responders in emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units

Prerequisites:

Current PALS Completion Card:

  • Students must have a valid, non-expired PALS Completion Card to attend the class.

Pre-Course Requirements:

  1. PALS Provider Manual:
  2. Precourse Self-Assessment:
    • Complete the Precourse Self-Assessment with a passing score of 70% or higher.
    • Bring your printed PALS Precourse Completion Certification to your class

Course Duration:

  • Approximately 8 hours of instructor-led training.

Certification:

  • Upon successful completion, participants will receive the American Heart Association PALS Provider Card, valid for two years.

Important Note for Bellingham La Quinta Inn Location:

  • If you are registering for our Bellingham La Quinta Inn location, please note that a minimum of 6 students is required for the course to proceed.
  • If enrollment falls below this minimum, we will need to reschedule your course to a later date.
