ACLS & BLS Courses – American Heart Association

Important: All HeartCode® courses are NON-REFUNDABLE.

You will receive two separate course links: one for ACLS and one for BLS. Both courses must be completed to receive your respective AHA course completion cards.

1. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Course Overview

HeartCode® ACLS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program using eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios.

• Part 1 (Online Cognitive Component):

  • Team dynamics lesson

  • 10 hospital-based ACLS case scenarios

  • Written exam

• Parts 2 & 3 (Skills Practice & Testing):

  • Conducted with an AHA ACLS Instructor or voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system

  • Completion of all three parts is required to receive an AHA ACLS Provider Card

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Recognize and manage periarrest conditions

• Provide high-quality BLS care, including chest compressions and AED use

• Recognize and manage respiratory and cardiac arrest

• Initiate early management of acute coronary syndromes and stroke

• Demonstrate effective team communication and leadership during resuscitation

Skills Session Requirement:
A hands-on Skills Session with an instructor is required to receive your ACLS Provider Card.

2. Basic Life Support (BLS)

Course Overview

Welcome to the BLS Online Part 1 Course! This course teaches essential life-saving techniques to respond confidently in emergencies.

• Master BLS Techniques: Single-rescuer and team-based care for adults, children, and infants

• Recognize Emergencies: Identify life-threatening situations

• Perform High-Quality CPR: Effective chest compressions and ventilation techniques

• Use an AED: Operate an Automated External Defibrillator

• Administer the Heimlich Maneuver: Relieve choking effectively

Course Details

Online Part 1:

• Accessed via a link from LifeTek within 1–2 business days

• Self-paced, approximately 2 hours

Skills Practice (Part 2):

• Attend in-person hands-on skills session

• Bring your online course completion certificate (with name and score)

• Duration: 1 hour

• Fees apply for the skills session

Completion Requirements

• Both Parts Required: Completion of Online Part 1 and Hands-On Part 2

• BLS e-Card: Issued within 2–3 business days after successful completion
