AHA PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization) Course

Prepare to enhance your ability to respond to pediatric emergencies with the American Heart Association (AHA) PEARS training. This Instructor-led, classroom-based course teaches a systematic approach to assessing, recognizing, and stabilizing pediatric patients in emergency situations.

Course Overview

Pediatric Emergency Response Training – Learn to assess and manage respiratory distress, shock, and cardiopulmonary emergencies in children.
Realistic Simulations – Engage with real patient cases, animations, and hands-on practice to improve critical thinking and lifesaving skills.
Early Intervention Focus – Develop the ability to provide effective stabilization until advanced life support providers take over.

Who Should Take PEARS?

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who may encounter pediatric emergencies but do not regularly specialize in pediatrics, including:

  • Physicians and nurses not specializing in pediatrics
  • Nurse practitioners & physician assistants
  • EMTs & respiratory therapists
  • Prehospital and in-facility providers (outside of critical-care areas)
  • Outpatient clinic staff & school-based providers
  • Any healthcare provider who infrequently treats critically ill or injured infants and children

AHA ACLS & BLS HeartCode Part 2 – In-Person Skills Session

Enhance Your Life-Saving Skills!

Join us for the American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS & BLS HeartCode Part 2 hands-on skills session. This in-person training builds on your online coursework, providing essential skills practice and testing under the guidance of AHA-certified instructors.


Course Overview

1. BLS Skills Check

✔ Hands-on practice and skills testing for Basic Life Support (BLS).
✔ Builds on the AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Course (Part 1) completed online.
✔ Led by an AHA-certified BLS Instructor.

2. ACLS Skills Check

✔ Hands-on practice and skills testing for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
✔ Builds on the AHA ACLS Course (Part 1) completed online.
✔ Led by an AHA-certified ACLS Instructor.

🔹 RQI Participants: If you are enrolled in RQI, you will only complete ACLS skills and receive an ACLS eCard.


Completion Requirements

Step 1: Complete Part 1 online through the link provided by your Education Service Department.
Step 2: Attend and successfully complete this in-person skills session within 60 days of finishing Part 1.
Step 3: Bring your printed completion certificate from the online course. (Without this, you cannot participate!)

Upon successful completion, you will receive your AHA BLS and/or ACLS course completion eCard.


E-Card Issuance

📩 Your official AHA BLS and/or ACLS eCard will be emailed within 2-3 business days after completing the session.


Important Notes

🔹 Online Course Access: Contact your Education Service Department to obtain access to Part 1.
🔹 Printed Certificate Required: You must bring your completion certificate to the skills session.
🔹 RQI Participants: Will only receive an ACLS eCard and practice ACLS skills.

  • Your online course link (Part 1) is provided by your Education Services or HR Department.

Course Overview

🔹 BLS Skills Check:

  • This session follows the completion of the AHA's online BLS Healthcare Provider Course (Part 1).
  • Includes hands-on skills practice and testing with an AHA-certified BLS Instructor.

🔹 Completion Requirements:

  • After completing Part 1 online through the link provided by your Education Services or HR Department, you must successfully complete Part 2 (skills session) within 60 days.
  • Upon successful completion of both the online course and in-person skills check, you will receive your AHA BLS course completion eCard.

🔹 E-Card Issuance:

  • Your AHA BLS eCard will be issued within 2-3 business days after completing both parts.

Online Course Part 1 – Required Before Attending

  • Ensure you have completed the online course before your skills session.
  • If you haven’t received your online keycode, please contact your Education Services Department.

Certificate Requirement – Must Be Printed

  • PRINT your online course completion certificate before attending your skills session.

    • Your full name
    • Course type (BLS)
    • Your score

Failure to bring your printed certificate will result in denial of participation in the skills session.

Welcome to the American Heart Association (AHA) PALS HeartCode Part 2 In-Person Skills Session! This hands-on training is designed to enhance your Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) skills through practical application and expert instruction.
