The American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course is an instructor-led, classroom-based program designed to improve healthcare providers' skills in treating pediatric patients in arrest or peri-arrest situations. This course focuses on enhancing the quality of care for seriously ill or injured children, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

Course Overview:

Key Learning Objectives:

Through a series of simulated pediatric emergency scenarios, participants will:

• Systematic Pediatric Assessment: Develop a thorough approach to assessing pediatric patients.
• Basic Life Support (BLS): Reinforce essential life-saving techniques for children.
• PALS Treatment Algorithms: Learn and apply the algorithms used in pediatric advanced life support.
• Effective Resuscitation Techniques: Master skills for performing successful resuscitation.
• Team Dynamics: Understand and practice working as a team in emergency situations.

Materials Required:

• A current PALS Provider Manual is required for the course.

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for healthcare providers who respond to pediatric emergencies, including those working in:

• Emergency Response
• Emergency Medicine
• Intensive Care
• Critical Care Units

This includes physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others who require a PALS completion card for their job or certification purposes.

Course Length:

• Approximately 8 hours of instruction.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the American Heart Association PALS Provider Card, valid for two years.
