Welcome to the Basic Life Support (BLS) Online Part 1 Course!

We’re excited to guide you through this essential training in life-saving techniques. Prepare to master critical skills to respond confidently in emergencies.


Course Overview

In this course, you'll learn to:

  • Master BLS Techniques: Single-rescuer and team-based BLS for adults, children, and infants.
  • Recognize Emergencies: Learn to identify and respond to life-threatening situations.
  • Perform High-Quality Chest Compressions: Apply effective CPR techniques.
  • Provide Effective Ventilation: Use ventilation techniques to support patients.
  • Use an AED: Learn to operate an Automated External Defibrillator.
  • Administer the Heimlich Maneuver: Practice techniques to relieve choking.

Course Details

  • Online Course (Part 1):

    • You’ll receive a link from LifeTek within 1-2 business days to access the online course.
    • Complete the course at your own pace.
    • Duration: Approximately 2 hours.
  • Skills Practice (Part 2):

    • Attend in-person sessions for hands-on practice and skills demonstration.
    • Be sure to PRINT your online course completion certificate, which includes your name and score, and bring it to class.
    • Duration: 1 hour.

Completion Requirements

  • Complete Both Parts: You must successfully finish the Online Part 1 and Hands-On Part 2 to receive your AHA BLS Course Completion Card.
  • E-Card Issuance: Expect your BLS e-card within 2-3 business days after completing both parts.

ACLS Initial Provider Course with BLS Skills

Course Overview

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course is an advanced, instructor-led program designed to:

  • Emphasize the importance of team dynamics and communication.
  • Address systems of care and post-cardiac-arrest care.
  • Cover airway management and related pharmacology.

Skills are taught through large group sessions, small group learning, and case-based scenarios to enhance practical application and testing.

Note: The course does not teach ECG rhythm interpretation or detailed ACLS pharmacology.

Welcome to the BLS Instructor Renewal & Monitoring Course!

Thank you for registering with LifeTek! This course is designed to help you maintain your AHA BLS Instructor certification and ensure you are up-to-date on teaching and monitoring requirements. Please review the course details and prerequisites carefully to ensure a smooth renewal process.


Course Structure

This course includes two key components:

  1. Didactic & BLS Skills
    • Duration: Approximately 3.5 hours
  2. BLS Instructor Monitoring
    • Duration: Approximately 4 hours

Pre-Course Requirements

Before attending the course, complete the following:

  • BLS Provider e-Exam
    • Use the Keycode provided on your registration sheet.
    • Send your completion certificate to NW@LifeWork.Edu or provide a printed copy to the Training Center Faculty (TCF) at the start of the course.

Instructor Certification Renewal Guidelines

AHA Instructor Cards are valid for two years and have no grace period if they expire. To renew your certification, the following must be completed before expiration:

  1. Complete the Instructor Essentials Course

    • This is required for each discipline you teach.
    • Purchase and complete the online course if you haven’t already.
    • Print and present the completion certificate to your Instructor or TCF.
  2. Maintain Current Provider Status

    • Option 1: Hold a current provider card.
    • Option 2: Demonstrate exceptional provider skills to a TCF and pass the provider exam.
      • If this route is chosen, the results must be documented on the Instructor/TCF Renewal Checklist.
      • A new provider card is optional but not required.
  3. Earn 4 Instructor Credits Every 2 Years

    • Credits can be earned through:
      • Teaching classroom courses (1 credit per course).
      • Conducting the classroom portion of a blended-learning course (1 credit per 2-hour HeartCode BLS session or each day of Heartsaver skills sessions).
      • Conducting BLS and AED skills testing during a PALS, PEARS, or ACLS course (1 credit per course).
    • Verification: Submit all past rosters through Enrollware before the class.
  4. Attend Required Updates

    • Updates may include new course content, methodologies, or regional/national AHA updates within the last 2 years.
  5. Complete Monitoring Requirements

    • Be monitored while teaching a full class before your instructor status expires.
    • Important: The first monitoring session after the initial instructor course does not count toward this requirement.
  6. Maintain a Quality Score

    • Ensure your Individual Instructor Quality Score by discipline meets the AHA benchmark of 85 or higher for the duration of your expiring card.
    • Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis with TCF recommendations and TCC approval.
