AHA BLS - CPR for Healthcare Providers

Welcome to our BLS for Healthcare Provider course, meticulously crafted to equip healthcare professionals with essential skills to respond confidently to life-threatening emergencies. Gain proficiency in CPR, AED usage, and choking relief in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Who Should Attend: Ideal for EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other healthcare providers needing BLS certification.

 

AHA E-Exam Option: Prior to the course, you'll receive a link to the BLS online exams. Prepare with your AHA BLS Provider Manual and other resources. Achieve an 84% passing score on the 25-question exam. If needed, complete the exam during the last 30 minutes of the course. Remember, if taking the online exam, save or print the completion certificate that includes your name and score, and bring it to class.

 

Course Duration: Approximately 3 hours

 

Certification: Successfully pass the written test and skills demonstration to earn your American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years. Please note, it may take up to 2-3 business days to issue your BLS ecard after completing the class.

 

Required Materials: Access to the current AHA Basic Life Support Provider Manual is mandatory before, during, and after the course. Order your manual with the class (price includes tax) if you don't have one.

AHA- BLS In-Person Skill Session Part 2 (VMFH)

Welcome to AHA BLS Heartcode Part 2 In Person Skills Session!

Prepare to enhance your life-saving skills with our comprehensive American Heart Association (AHA) BLS training.

Remember, LifeTek is only responsible Part 2 which is the the hands on portion of the course.

Course link comes from your Education Service Department or your VMFH HR Department.

Course Overview:

  • BLS Skills Check: This session follows completion of the AHA's online BLS Healthcare Provider Course. It includes hands-on skills practice and testing with an AHA BLS Instructor.
  • Completion Requirements: After completing Part 1 online through the link you would receive from VFMH Education Serives Department, or your VMFH HR Department, you must successfully complete skills within 60 days. Upon completing the course online and skills check, you'll receive your AHA BLS course completion card.
  • Ecard Issuance: Expect your AHA BLS course completion ecard to be issued within 2-3 business days after completing both parts.

  • Online Course Part 1 Access: Please ensure you complete the online course. Please contact your Education Services Department at educationservices@chifranciscan.org

AHA HeartCode® - BLS Online Course and In-Person Skills Check

Welcome to our Basic Life Support (BLS) Online Part 1 Course! We're excited to guide you through this essential training in life-saving techniques.

 

Course Overview: Prepare to master single-rescuer and team BLS for adults, children, and infants through interactive exercises, scenarios, and a final written test. Learn to recognize emergencies, administer high-quality chest compressions, provide ventilation, use an AED, and perform the Heimlich maneuver.

 

American Heart Association’s BLS Online Part 1: Accessible 24/7, this web-based course offers flexibility without compromising on learning quality. Engage with case-based scenarios, interactive activities, and instructional videos designed to enhance your BLS skills effectively.

 

Course Details:

  • Part 1, Online Course: You'll receive a link from the AHA within 1-2 business days to access the online course. Complete it at your own pace.

  • Estimated Duration: Approximately 2 hours

  • Parts 2 & 3, Skills Practice and Testing: Attend in-person sessions to practice and demonstrate your skills. Bring your completion certificate as proof of course completion. 

  • Skills Sessions Duration: 1 hour

 

Completion Requirements: Successful completion of all three parts (Online Part 1, Skills Practice, and Testing) is mandatory to receive your AHA BLS Course Completion Card, recognized like the classroom version. Please allow 2-3 business days to receive your eCard.

AHA HeartCode® - BLS Online Course Only

BLS Key Code is NON-REFUNDABLE - SKILLS (Parts 2 and 3) are NOT included.

This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.

After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. Where available, students may also complete the hands-on session with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM).

HeartCode BLS is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS Course.

AHA ACLS - Provider Initial Course, 1-Day, with BLS

ACLS Initial Provider Course (1-Day Blended-learning Format) with BLS

Welcome to LifeTek's ACLS Initial Provider Course! Prepare for an immersive learning experience that blends online preparation with a dynamic 9-hour instructor-led session. Prior to attending, complete the AHA ACLS Prep-course at your convenience. If you prefer flexibility, our ACLS e-exam option allows extended testing time beyond traditional classroom settings.

Course Overview: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a comprehensive instructor-led course emphasizing team dynamics, communication, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. AHA PALS - Provider Renewal 1-Day

Join our PALS Course for Enhanced Pediatric Emergency Skills!

Welcome to our American Heart Association PALS Course! This instructor-led, classroom-based program is designed to elevate healthcare providers' abilities in managing pediatric arrest and periarrest scenarios. Through hands-on training and simulated emergencies, you'll master systematic pediatric assessment, essential life support techniques, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation strategies, and teamwork dynamics.

Who Should Attend: Ideal for healthcare professionals in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units—such as physicians, nurses, paramedics—who require a PALS completion card for professional obligations.

Prerequisites: To enroll, you must present a current PALS completion card. HeartCode® ACLS Part 1 uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on ACLS guidelines, and provide treatment. Successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with an AHA ACLS Instructor or a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system, meets the requirements for obtaining an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

AHA Instructor Initial - BLS

Course Overview

The AHA Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in the Heartsaver and/or Healthcare Provider resuscitation courses. The American Heart Association requires that Instructors be at least 18 years of age for the Heartsaver and BLS Instructor courses. A BLS Instructor will be qualified to teach the BLS for Healthcare Provider Course as well as the Heartsaver Course for the lay person. If you would ike to become a Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED Instructor ONLY, please contact the Training Center for further details prior to signing up.

A BLS Instructor Course is approximately 9 hours. The course consists of BLS Instructor Essentials (3 hours of individual on-line pre-course work), and an additional 6 hours of classroom training and practice. Click here to view our Instructor Timeline. Monitoring and Mentoring:  Each instructor candidate is required to be monitored teaching a BLS class in full to complete the Instructor course requirements.  A LifeTek TCF will monitor the class.  It is the instructor candidate’s responsibility to coordinate their monitored class while attending the Initial Instructor Course.  LifeTek will not issue an Instructor card until a satisfactory monitoring has been done. 

AHA Instructor Renewal & Monitoring - BLS/Heartsaver

Thank you for registering for the BLS Instructor Renewal & Monitoring Course. There are 2 components to this course: 

  • Didactic & BLS Skills--apx. 3.5 hours 
  • BLS Instructor Monitoring --apx. 4 hours

Please complete the BLS Provider e-exam, prior to this course and either print or email the completion certificate to NW@lifework.edu or provide a print copy to the Trainin Center Faculty conducting your course. The Keycode for the exam, appears under "Keycode" on your registration sheet.  

Instructor Cards expire two years from the month they are issued and there is no grace period for instructors that have let their certifications lapse. It is the instructors’ responsibility to make sure they have met all the below requirements BEFORE they expire.

To renew, instructors need to complete the following as required by the AHA:

  • All AHA Instructors are required to have completed the Instructor Essentials couse for each discipline they teach. Following completion of the online course, print the completion certificate and present this to your Instructor or Training Faculty. 
    • If you have not yet completed the Instructor Essentials course, please purchase it and complete it, as this is a requirement for all instructors. 
  • Maintain current provider status. You can do this by maintaining a current provider card or by demonstrating exceptional prover skills to a TCF and by successfully completing the provider exam.  **If you choose the demonstration route, successful completion must be documented on the instructor/TCF Renewal Checklist.  A new provider card may be issued if you request one, but is not required.
  • Earn 4 credits every 2 years of your instructor recognition by doing any combination of the following:
    • Teach the classroom course. Each class counts as 1 credit. 
    • Conduct the classroom portion for a blended-learning course. Each HeartCode BLS classroom session (2 hours) or each day of Heartsaver skills practice and testing sessions counts as 1 credit.  All credits can be earned this way. 
    • Conduct BLS and AED skills testing during a PALS, PEARS, or ACLS course. 1 credit per course.
      • *** Verification credits will need to be turned into the office prior to class. To do so please submit all past rosters through www.enrollware.com.
    • Attend updates as required within the previous 2 years. Updates may address new course content or methodology and review TC, regional, and national ECC information.
    • Be monitored while teaching before instructor status expiration. The first monitoring after the initial instructor course does not satisfy this requirement.  See the monitoring options below.
    • Maintain an Individual Instructor Quality Score by Discipline above the AHA benchmark of 85 for the span of the expiring card. Exceptions may be granted on a case by case bases with the recommendation of TCF and approval of the TCC.

If the course today does not include a monitoring component, please make sure to schedule a monitoring session with your Instructor or Training Faculty.

AHA Heartsaver HeartCode, First Aid with CPR/AED (Online Course & In-Person Skills Check)

Heartsaver Total® – First Aid CPR AED Online offers the convenience of digital learning for students that are required to take CPR & first aid training to meet job requirements. If all requirements are met, this course path results in a course completion card that is designed to meet regulatory and or OSHA requirements.

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED Skills Check is the opportunity to practice (Part 2) and have your skills tested (Part 3). This is the follow-up process to completing the American Heart Association's online Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED Course (Part 1), and is certified by an AHA BLS Instructor.

Emergency Care Basics (EMTA) - Basic First Aid CPR/AED Core Content (4 hr)
ASHI First Aid, CPR & AED Blended Learning Skills Session

American Safety & Health Institute's First Aid, CPR, AED & Bloodborne Pathoensprogram includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced for themselves and others. The program assists in satisfying the training requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. 

Intended Audience:  Any individual or employee who has a reasonable anticipation of contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties.

ASHI-approved student materials:  Student handbook. Digital format will be provided as a download from the ASHI website. .  

Successful completion (certification):  Upon successful completion of all course requirements and performance evaluation, you will receive a Certificate of Completion which is valid for 12 months from class completion date.

AHA BLS - CPR for Healthcare Providers (PeaceHealth Employees Only)

This BLS for Healthcare Provider classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

AHA E-Exam Option:  You have been be sent a link to the AHA BLS online exam.  We encourage you to do the exam in advance of the course and use your AHA BLS Provider Manual or other resources as a reference for the questions you don't know.  Once you complete all 25 questions and hit the submit button, the exam will be scored.  A passing score is 84% for the e-exam.  If you don't pass or can't complete the exam prior to your course, you will have an opportunity to complete it the last 30 minutes of the course. 

 

Audience: Healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course.

Course length: Approximately 3 hours

Upon successful completion of written test and skills demonstration, students receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years.

AHA BLS Heartcode Part 2 Skills Evaluation

The AHA BLS Heartcode Part 2 Skills Evaluation is for those who have completed one of the following online courses:  AHA BLS Heartcode Online Course OR the BLS Healthcare Learning Alliance On Demand Virtual Course.  

 Once you completed the online course and the in-person skills you will receive the same card as if you took the full Classroom version.

This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

HeartCode® ACLS is an official, self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association (AHA). HeartCode® ACLS Part 1 uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios. Students are presented with a team dynamics lesson, 10 ACLS hospital-based case scenarios, and a written exam. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on ACLS guidelines, and provide treatment. Successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with an AHA ACLS Instructor or a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system, meets the requirements for obtaining an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize and initiate early management of periarrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  • Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating automated external defibrillator (AED) use
  • Recognize and manage respiratory arrest

Prequisites:  Students taking this renewal course must present a current PALS completion card to attend this class.  Also, before taking PALS, students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills.
